Jesse Cook is a Canadian guitarist, composer, and producer. Widely considered one of the most influential figures in “nuevo flamenco” music, he incorporates elements of flamenco rumba, jazz & many forms of world music into his work. He is a Juno Award winner, Acoustic Guitar (magazine)’s Player’s Choice Award silver winner in the Flamenco Category, and a three-time winner of the Canadian Smooth Jazz award for Guitarist of the Year. He has recorded on the EMI, E1 Music and Narada labels and has sold over 1.5 million records worldwide.

Cook has recorded nine studio albums, three live DVDs and has traveled the world exploring musical traditions that he has blended into his style of rumba flamenco. In addition to headlining concerts and festivals, he has opened for such legends as B.B. King, Ray Charles and Diana Krall. He has performed with Welsh soprano Charlotte Church on The Tonight Show and toured with legendary Irish band, The Chieftains.

“Guitar virtuoso Jesse Cook is a walking embodiment of the gypsy music he plays: eclectic, energetic, and very exciting. Perhaps that is why he says that his music chose him, and not the other way around. After all, he does seem like the perfect candidate.” – The Star Online

Vancouver, BC, February 24, 2017 – Paul Mercs Concerts is pleased to announce this very special concert date.

Thursday, May 18
Powell River, BC
Max Cameron Theatre

Ron Sexsmith’s status as one of the greatest songwriters of his generation has never been in doubt. On his previous 12 albums, he has worked with some of music’s most celebrated producers — Daniel Lanois, Mitchell Froom, Bob Rock and Jim Scott.

Ron Sexsmith - The Last Rider album coverFor his thirteenth solo album, The Last Rider, to be released April 21, Sexsmith, took matters into his own hands as a producer along with longtime collaborator, Don Kerr.

The Last Rider is by turns romantic, bittersweet, uplifting and humourous, but what is most striking is how at ease Sexsmith sounds, accompanied by his trusted touring band. For The Last Rider, it felt right to record in Canada, and as a result, Sexsmith believes it’s one of his most personal albums.

“I didn’t plan on it being that way, but as we were assembling the songs, this theme did start to emerge about leaving the city, which my wife and I are going to be doing soon, and other big life changes.” Sexsmith says. Through truth and simplicity, Sexsmith’s songs bring us closer to the things that make us better people, meaning that an album like The Last Rider is as necessary now as anything he has ever done.

Celebrated chant masters Deva Premal & Miten bring their Temple at Midnight tour to 19 cities in the USA, Canada and Mexico this May and June.

Accompanied by Nepalese bansuri maestro Manose, with Canadian Joby Baker on bass and Danish percussionist Rishi, their unique, spiritually inspired evenings of mantra, song, and chant are treasured by audiences around the planet.

These powerful gatherings offer a joyful path to centering in these turbulent times, creating moments of what Deva describes as “ecstatic silence” – or in Miten’s words, “luminous pools of deep celebration.”

During their 26 years together the duo have presented their music worldwide, from New York to Los Angeles, from Buenos Aires to Rio de Janeiro, from Moscow to Kiev to Tel Aviv, from San Quentin Prison to the concert halls of Europe, proving that mantras transcend all traditional cultural and religious boundaries.

They released two albums in 2016: Cosmic Connections Live, featuring tracks recorded during their 2014/15 World Tours; and Miten’s new best-selling collection of songs, Temple at Midnight, which rocked to the top of the iTunes charts in the USA, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Denmark, Australia and New Zealand when first released.

Deva Premal & Miten with Manose’s 2017 Temple at Midnight North American Tour is sponsored by ORGANIC INDIA in association with UPLIFT.

MITEN: “The music we make is born out of a committed spiritual practice. We meditate – we investigate – and our music is a result of that experience. It’s more a case of life and death than entertainment.”

DEVA PREMAL: “Sanskrit mantras are ancient, primordial healing formulae that resonate at the very core of our being. By chanting communally, we access this profound depth of silence and inner peace, transcending all conflict – inner and outer.”

SAN QUENTIN PRISON INMATE: (after a concert by Deva & Miten and band) “I’ve been in here 25 years, but tonight I’m free…”

FACEBOOK POST: “It was magical in Tel Aviv…still is…I’m flying back to Eilat, full of love in my heart…going back and expanding love in my massage practice with your new CD…I was blessed with your hug at the end of the show…the mantras are in me…and please come back to Israel – I will always be there. Good traveling and bless Manose and all the children of the world. Thank you so much, something opened in me…I always saw the Arabs as my enemy…separate from them…did not feel good in me, I tried to understand but my heart was closed… after the concert I feel peace in my heart and hope for a good life for all of us. Namaste.”

CANADA: “I work with Autistic people and as usual I had my Deva Premal CD on and the young fellow that I work with (non verbal), heard Om Mane Padme Om and chanted it from start to finish. Now whenever he gets in my car, he automatically says, “three please” and puts it on. Your music has touched his Buddha nature and I feel truly blessed when I hear him sing along to it.”

EMAIL MESSAGE: “There was a moment during your performance where it felt like every cell in my body was just vibrating so high and everything was moving “up” for at least a full half minute! A shift like that is not rare for me but never before was it so distinct and so significant!”

FLORIDA: “Thank you so much for your incredible music and energy. Your music is one of the few things my elderly father with Alzheimer’s still responds positively to. I always play your CDs in the car when I’ve transported him to doctor appointments and he is immediately calmed and peaceful.”

CALIFORNIA: “I wanted to share something with you. I am doing radiation therapy for cancer and this week, one of the radio techs brought in one of your CDs, because she thought I might like to hear it during the difficult treatment time… Anyway, I thought you’d love to know your wonderful, uplifting and healing music is being played at California Cancer Care which is part of Marin General Hospital. BRAVO.”

ECKHART TOLLE: “Their music is pure magic…”

CHER: “The Essence by Deva Premal is my all-time favorite album for yoga.”

ANTHONY ROBBINS: “Songs for the Inner Lover by Miten is a passionate and powerful work of art.”

HH DALAI LAMA: (after Deva & Miten played for him at a private audience) “Beautiful, beautiful music…!”

Vancouver, BC, April 25, 2016 — Paul Mercs Concerts is pleased to announce the following concert dates for Roger Hodgson, Legendary Singer-Songwriter formerly of Supertramp!

Roger Hodgson co-founded Supertramp in 1969 and was with them until his departure in 1983. During the 14 years that he was with the band, he wrote, sang, and arranged most of the enduring rock standards that made Supertramp a worldwide phenomenon. His timeless classics – “Give a Little Bit,” “The Logical Song,” “Dreamer,” “Take the Long Way Home,” “Breakfast in America,” “School,” “Fool’s Overture,” and “It’s Raining Again,” helped the band sell well over 60 million albums.
While many may not recognize the name Roger Hodgson, everyone recognizes his signature voice – one of the most distinctive voices in rock history. The classic hit songs that he wrote and sang, often referred to as “Supertramp” songs, are actually Roger Hodgson songs.
In 2016 Hodgson continues to perform all his hits that he first recorded with Supertramp, along with his other classics “Sister Moonshine,” “Child of Vision,” “Hide in Your Shell,” “Even in the Quietest Moments,” and fan favorites from his solo albums – “Had a Dream,” “Only Because of You,” “Lovers in the Wind,” “In Jeopardy,” and “Along Came Mary.” Accompanied by a stunning four-piece band, Hodgson’s 2016 ‘Breakfast in America’ tour brings him to Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium, England, France, Portugal, Canada, and USA.
For all tour details, visit http://www.RogerHodgson.com or https://www.Facebook.com/RogerHodgson.

“All these years I thought I was a Supertramp fan when actually I was and am a Roger Hodgson fan. What a show! ‘WOW’ is all I can say.” ~ David Wild, Rolling Stone

“There are few vocalists instantly recognizable from the first few bars of a song but Roger Hodgson is certainly one of that unique group. The singer/songwriter of Supertramp, his voice is as unmistakable as the distinct keyboard sound of his early hits.” ~ The Times (London)

“This is the real deal: a legendary music man, in brilliant form and shimmering presence, supported by a tight, terrific band. An evening with Roger Hodgson will raise your standards of concert-going.”  ~ Huffington Post

Audience Responses…

“The performance was an intimate “stadium” concert….. such a remarkable voice, singing hit after hit…. now I know why they call you Mr. Supertramp. You didn’t just fill the theater, you filled our spirit.”

“Absolutely amazing show! Roger’s music is timeless. We brought our kids and 16-year-old granddaughter who have been listening to Roger’s music all their lives. They were singing and cheering right along with us. Great memories were made last night.”

“WOW! After over 30 years of waiting, we saw your show last night – All I can say is thank you, thank you, thank you… how wonderful it felt to be 16 again! The band was tight, and your musicians were spot on, nailing the harmonies and filling the room and my soul with the sounds of my favorite music, Supertramp!! Roger, your voice is as sweet and strong as the day in 1976 when I put on headphones and heard School for the 1st time.”
Hodgson’s latest release, ‘Classics Live,’ is a spectacular collection of his hit songs recorded from concerts on his 2010 tour and is available through his Store and iTunes.

2016 marks the 40th anniversary of the release of Raffi’s first and still best-selling album, Singable Songs for the Very Young. These family concerts will include versatile musician Ken Whiteley, who co-produced Singable Songs with Raffi in 1976.

Raffi is a singer, songwriter, producer, author, lecturer, and tireless advocate for children. He is best known for his work as a children’s entertainer whose string of gold and platinum-selling recordings in North America includes his classic song, “Baby Beluga”. Once called “the most popular children’s singer in the English-speaking world” (Washington Post) and “Canada’s all time children’s champion” (Toronto Star), Raffi is also a recipient of the Order of Canada and the United Nations’ Earth Achievement Award. He has published three books and holds four honorary degrees. He has never advertised to children or made any commercial endorsements aimed at kids. His commitment to treating his young fans with respect changed society’s outlook on music made for children.

“It’s great fun singing for children and families,” says Raffi. “As well as singing many of my fans’ favorites, I look forward to sharing a song or two from my Love Bug album and my new one, Owl Singalong—and to the sounds of all of us singing old favourites from my very first album!”

In 2010, Raffi founded The Centre for Child Honouring on Salt Spring Island, BC. With the motto “Respecting Earth & Child,” the Centre is at the heart of a global movement that views honouring children as the best way to create sustainable, peacemaking societies.

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees Ann and Nancy Wilson first showed the world that women can rock when their band, Heart, stormed the charts in the ‘70’s with hits like “Crazy on You,” “Magic Man,” “Barracuda,” “Straight On,” and so many more. Not only did the Wilson sisters lead the band, they wrote the songs and played the instruments too, making them the first women in rock to do so. Heart continued topping the charts through the ‘80’s and ‘90’s with huge hits like “These Dreams,” “Alone,” “What About Love,” “If Looks Could Kill,” “Never,” and a string of other hits that showcased the sisters’ enormous talents as musicians, singers and songwriters. Powerful and exciting on stage, Heart performs their amazing show to many hundreds of thousands of fans annually.

As individuals, the sisters have also achieved significant success. Ann sang on songs that were both chart successes and motion picture themes, like “Almost Paradise” from Footloose, “Best Man in the World” from The Golden Child, and “Surrender to Me” from Tequila Sunrise, while Nancy composed and performed the scores to a half dozen motion pictures including the award winning “Jerry Maguire” and “Almost Famous.”

Along the way, music by Ann and Nancy Wilson and their band Heart sold more than 35 million albums, sold out arenas worldwide, and found their way into the soundtrack of American life through radio, motion pictures, television, and associations with branded sponsors.

The last decade has been filled with new accomplishments for Heart. Nearly 35 years after their first big hit, Ann and Nancy Wilson were back in the Billboard Top 10 in 2010 with Heart’s “Red Velvet Car” album, and a Top 5 DVD (“Night at Sky Church”). 2012’s “Fanatic” continued Heart’s current chart success, spawning two hit singles (“Fanatic” and “Dear Old America”) and debuting in the Billboard Top 25. They also released a comprehensive CD box set entitled “Strange Euphoria,” filled with rarities and previously unreleased treasures that met with acclaim from critics and fans alike.

In September 2012, Ann and Nancy released their first-ever memoire (Kicking & Dreaming: A Story of Heart, Soul and Rock & Roll). The book spent several weeks on the New York Times “Best Sellers” chart and was released by HarperCollins on paperback on September 25, 2013.

On Dec 2, 2012 at Kennedy Center Honors tribute to the surviving members of Led Zeppelin, Heart’s soulful and touching performance of “Stairway to Heaven” received a standing ovation and the You Tube video has garnered almost 40 million hits.

In 2014, Ann and Nancy performed a TV holiday special, “Heart & Friends: Home for the Holidays”, with guests Shawn Colvin, Sammy Hagar, Pat Monahan and Richard Marx, which was released on CD and DVD for Christmas. Following in May 2015, they released a children’s book, Dog & Butterfly, based on the famous and well-beloved hit song.

Joan Jett is an originator, an innovator, and a visionary.  As the leader of the hard-rocking Blackhearts, with whom she has become a Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, she’s had eight platinum and gold albums and nine Top 40 singles, including the classics “Bad Reputation,” “I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll,” “I Hate Myself For Loving You,” and “Crimson and Clover.” She sits at the head of her own independent label, Blackheart Records. Jett has acted in movies and television, including 1987’s Light Of Day, and in a Tony-nominated Broadway musical, The Rocky Horror Show. She has appeared on such acclaimed television shows as Oprah (the last season) and Law and Order.

As a producer, she has overseen albums by Bikini Kill, Circus Lupus, as well as the Germs’ LA punk masterpiece, GI.  Her music has become a permanent force in mainstream culture. A version of “I Hate Myself for Loving You” has been NBC’s Sunday Night Football, performed this past season by Carrie Underwood, and her music is heard in countless films and TV shows including Easy – A, Kick Ass, The Runaways, Shrek, Baby Mama, and many more.

Since co-founding the Runaways, the pioneering all-girl punk quintet, at age 15, Jett’s determination and drive have kept her in the public eye. Jett was able to see her story told in The Runaways, the film based on (lead singer of The Runaways) Cherie Currie’s book Neon Angel starring Kristen Stewart as Jett, and her fellow A-lister Dakota Fanning as Currie. Jett was close to the project: She served as an executive producer.

Jett and the Blackhearts released their latest record, ‘Unvarnished,’ in 2013 and continue touring the globe to throngs of adoring fans.

Joan Jett has spent her lifetime breaking barriers and challenging expectations – this is, after all, a woman who is both a spokesperson for PETA and a devoted supporter of the US Military. She’s fought hard for all of her historic accomplishments, yet she remains humble and appreciative.

“I’ve had a blessed career,” she says. “I consider myself so lucky to have been able to do things my own way.”

The Mandevilles is the latest incarnation of Serena Pryne and Nick Lesyk’s musical merger, which began around the turn of the millennium in the Niagara Region of southern Ontario.  Pryne and Lesyk are the creative nucleus of The Mandevilles and have been musical partners for nearly 15 years, although both bring significantly different musical influences to the table.

“Serena’s influences are steeped more in the roots of rock and roll whereas mine are a little more contemporary. But there are a lot of commonalities: we love Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, the Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin. And then there are newer songwriters like Ryan Adams and Jason Isbell,” said Lesyk.

As the frontwoman for the band, Pryne is the focal point and centre of attention for the band for both her force-
of-nature stage presence and her amazingly dynamic and unmistakably authentic whisky-soaked voice. “I played in a blues band when I was a kid. That definitely shaped the sound of my voice. Even though I don’t listen to blues records all the time there is just something about it that I gravitate to – it was natural for me,” Pryne said.

After playing in cover bands separately and then together, the duo started penning their own material and
formed the hard rock outfit Oliver Black. Soon thereafter they were courted by an American record label. After
moving to Europe for a short time, the band released an album under the name Serena Pryne and The Mandevilles which saw them begin an ongoing songwriting collaboration with Nashville-based Niagara Falls
transplant Dave “Dwave” Thomson. But with a revolving door of musicians and a yearning for something fresh,
Lesyk and Pryne decided to return to Canada and reboot the band.

There was a moment during the recording of Don’t Ask, the most stirring and evocative track on The Mandevilles’ new album Windows and Stones that came to epitomize the heart, soul and energy of the band.

 WA_FB_15

Slated to visit over 100 cities throughout North America, Europe, and Australia, the tour follows the release of Weird Al’s #1 album, Mandatory Fun (RCA Records). The album was released on July 15, 2014 and immediately shot to #1 on Billboard’s Top 200 Album Chart. This is the first time in over 50 years that a comedy album has topped the charts, and the first time ever that a comedy album debuted in the top position. Mandatory Fun has also been nominated for a Grammy in the category of Best Comedy Album.

Special pre-sales will be held at weirdal.com starting Tuesday, Jan. 27 at 10:00 AM EST and will go on sale to the public Friday, Jan. 30 at 10:00 AM local time.

“Weird Al” Yankovic is the biggest-selling comedy recording artist in history. Now in his fourth career decade, he has won three Grammys (with 15 nominations) and countless accolades for classics like “Eat It,” “Like a Surgeon,” “Yoda,” “Smells Like Nirvana,” “Amish Paradise” and “White & Nerdy.” For the rollout of his 14th studio album, Mandatory Fun, Weird Al world-premiered eight videos in eight days, taking the Internet by storm. The videos, including parodies of Pharrell Williams’ “Happy” (“Tacky”), Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” (“Word Crimes”), Lorde’s “Royals” (“Foil”), and Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” (“Handy”), garnered over 46 million views in the first week. Yankovic also set the U.S. record for having the most tracks from one album on Spotify’s viral top 10 at one time, taking the first 4 spots. In addition, “Word Crimes” debuted in the Billboard Top 40, making Al one of only three people to have had Top 40 singles in each of the last four decades (the other two are Michael Jackson and Madonna). The Mandatory World Tour begins on May 12 with a 5-night run at Planet Hollywood

“Valentine’s Day became a history making event in Tyler in 2015. You couldn’t help but feel the collective energies from each member, with Ringo orchestrating it all beautifully. The band made a colossal and crowd rockin’ finish with Beatles favorite ‘With A Little Help From My Friends’ in which the entire auditorium-packed audience exuberantly participated, culminating in a tremendous din of applause and cheering. The night was truly magical.” – AXS Live

“This latest incarnation of Starr’s traveling show has been together now going on three years and watching them interact as an actual band, rather than a supergroup taking turns out front, is almost as fun, almost, as watching and screaming “I love you” at the front man who will forever be part of the biggest rock ‘n’ roll band of all time.” – Sarasota Herald-Tribune

Vancouver, BC, March 23, 2015 Fresh off a February/March 2015 All Starr Tour, Ringo announces another string of tour dates with his current All-Starr Band, bringing the band he doesn’t want to stop playing with coast-to-coast across North America from October 1 to October 31.

All-Starr Band members include:

  • Steve Lukather (from the band Toto)
  • Todd Rundgren (Multi-instrumentalist, songwriter and record producer)
  • Gregg Rolie (founding member and original voice of Santana, also played with Journey)
  • Richard Page (lead singer and bassist of Mr. Mister)
  • Warren Ham (vocalist and saxophonist)
  • Gregg Bissonette (drummer)

Prior to the tour on September 21, Ringo and Genesis Publications will publish his photography book, PHOTOGRAPH, in wide release. This Spring will see the March 31 release of Ringo’s new album, POSTCARDS FROM PARADISE, by Universal Music Enterprises, and on April 18, he will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, where he will be honoured with the Award for Musical Excellence.

In PHOTOGRAPH, Ringo Starr reveals never-before-seen photographs and mementos from his archives, sharing memories of his childhood, The Beatles and beyond. Ringo’s lens captures his Beatles bandmates in pensive and playful moments, portraying them from the point of view of an insider, friend and skilled photographer. In an original manuscript of over 15,000 words, join Ringo growing up amidst the excitement of the emerging Merseybeat scene, as he remembers his first car, drum-kits, girls and bands on his ‘road of happy drumming’. From Pwllheli to Delhi, obscurity to superstardom, his travels are recounted with honesty and hilarity.

That same honesty and hilarity continues on the road now with the All-Starrs, with whom he has forged a bond that is evident in every show they play. Ringo’s playful spirit also comes across through his Twitter, where he shares his candid and of the moment photographs and trademark humour.

“I love pictures put together, showing different times of your life, “Ringo said about the book, “At the time, I never thought that there would be a whole book of my photographs.”

PHOTOGRAPH was originally conceived as a limited edition book of only 2,500 copies, which sold out within weeks. Two years later, Ringo Starr and Genesis Publications announce the ‘Open Edition’ – a more accessible and affordable printing of his book to be released in bookstores this September 2015. The author is donating all royalties to the Lotus Foundation.

Ringo Starr’s 18th studio release, POSTCARDS FROM PARADISE, features 11 original tracks and is his first album to include a song written and recorded by Ringo and his current All-Starr Band – Steve Lukather, Todd Rundgren, Gregg Rolie, Richard Page, Warren Ham and Gregg Bissonette. POSTCARDS FROM PARADISE was produced by Ringo and recorded at his home studio in Los Angeles and, as always, features friends and family. The album’s guest artists include: Joe Walsh, Benmont Tench, Dave Stewart, Ann Marie Simpson, Richard Marx, Amy Keys, Peter Frampton, Nathan East, and Glen Ballard (among others).
